Google is looking to expand beyond its core search business, as the search giant looks to hire up to 100 more people in the United States and Canada, according to people familiar with the matter.
Google is trying to find more revenue from its mobile-centric services as well as its search and advertising business, the people said, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The company is already building a new team of about 40 people to oversee its new global business, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
The team is in talks with companies and other groups to expand the business beyond Google, the source said.
Google also is in discussions with investors about its global expansion plans.
It is not clear how many people Google plans to hire.
