By Marla WurmanMay 11, 2018 09:57:49For the first time ever, the Memphis Business News (MBC) will offer a $4,500 incentive package to the top 50 reporters from the first 30 days of 2017.
The newsroom will receive the award from the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and the Memphis Community Media Association (MCMA).
The reward for Memphis business reporter, Marla Wilkins, was $1.5 million.
In the second quarter of 2017, MBC reported a revenue of $9.4 million, up 5.5 percent year over year, and the company reported $1 million in profit.
The annual reward for its Memphis business reporters has been in place for five years, but has only been available for a limited number of reporters.
The MBC reward program is part of a larger, nationwide program to reward and reward staff, which began in 2019.
The incentive package includes an annual salary of $1,000 for Memphis reporters.
The company will give $1 to a Memphis business editor for every 10 articles they produce.MBC will also award $1 for each additional 50-200 articles it publishes.
For the first-time, MMCA will also be awarding $1 per article for the first five.
The $1 bonus will be paid through a two-week period beginning Monday, May 10.
The bonus will also include a $500 cash bonus and $1 in a dedicated MBC Rewards Account.
The reward program will run from June 6 to June 21.
MBC will have a cash award of $250,000 through May 21.
The deadline for submissions for the 2018 award is Wednesday, May 24.
The 2018 Memphis Business Review is a quarterly magazine of business, finance and marketing issues.
It is published in Memphis by the Greater Memphis Business Chamber of Trade.
