Natchitoco, New Jersey, is famous for being home to a high concentration of evangelical Christians.
But on Sunday, Rev. Eric Hensley of the United Church of Christ got together with his flock and taught them about Jesus by having them read the Bible in tongues.
According to the Journal News, Henslay has a mission to “bring a little bit of Christianity back to people’s lives.”
Hensleys wife is also a pastor, but she said they have no plans to go back to the pulpit.
“The Bible is not for me,” Hensleys wife said.
“It’s not something I’d want to spend my life doing.”
Hensley says he believes the Bible is about “giving people hope and joy and a hope in the Lord.”
He said he wanted to teach his children that God is “just, compassionate and merciful.”
